A Glorious Mess of Things

Work

About

Damian Goidich is an artist from the United States. He likes to draw and paint.

About

My art reflects everything I am as an artist: what I see, what I imagine – the juxtaposition and mingling of the two and how it all filters through my mind, down my arm, and to the surface. It’s a world based on memory and visual cognition.

About

Drawing is the primary medium of expression because drawing speaks a different language than painting. Painting is grand; it’s the designated ‘High Art’. It is brimming with ‘Big Ideas’ that demand attention and creates distance between it and the viewer.

About

Drawing is quiet; it’s the ‘Little Art with Big Ideas’. It’s monochromatism denies easy recognition and asks you to come a little closer and have an intimate conversation with it. My art strives to encapsulate this idea.

About

Come closer. What do you see through the smudges and marks, the opaque, heavy blacks and wispy traces of grey lines? It’s whatever you want it to be. My art is open to all interpretations.
